This has to be San Diego's most under-appreciated steak house. If you can harken to a time when restaurants weren't corporate owned and steaks tasted like steak instead of cardboard, give Red Fox a try. The atmosphere is unique, having been an actual 17th-century English pub that was rebuilt in this corner of the InnSuite hotel. While all the steaks and chops here are superb, my favorite is the petit filet with scallops combo. Like everything here, you feel like you've gone back to a simpler era when you got your money's worth for your meal. All meals include a condiment tray, salad and choice of potato (try the baked!). Service is very good, unless they get really busy, then the waitresses may get a little scatterbrained (but still loveable!). Late diners will enjoy a small combo which plays almost nightly. Those Wednesday night diners can enjoy the special treat of going across the hallway where the great San Diego Jazz Orchestra has open rehearsals. In all, great food! Great music! Great time!
